Named after the Maasai people who have lived here for centuries, it is most famous for the annual Great Wildebeest Migration.
MIGRATION UPDATE - 7th Sept 2026: There are decent herds around the Sand River in the southern part of the Maasai Mara. The herds in the southern part of the Triangle seem to be coming back up from the Serengeti. Meanwhile, there are still scattered herds in the central part of the Mara.
