Skinks are types of lizards that are also found in the Mara. They are the second largest of the lizard family after the geckos. Most have no pronounced necks and have short legs with long tails that can be shed and regenerated in times of danger. They are carnivorous creatures feeding on insects, rodents and other lizards. They reproduce by hatching eggs internally and giving birth to live young ones.
