We are a small company owned by two Kenyans, and we are giving you the most up to date information on most of the places and things to do in the Maasai Mara. Hope you enjoy the site.

Responsible
Tourism:
The Mara Online Ltd is committed to Responsible Tourism. We promote Eco-Rated establishments that have been classified by the ESOK (Eco-Tourism Society of Kenya). Eco-Tourism is defined by the Eco Tourism Society as “responsible travel to natural areas, which conserves the environment and improves the welfare of local people”. Eco-ratings, Kato membership, and other awards or memberships are listed in the top right hand corner on each company or establishments page. Each Eco-Rated establishment is highlighted in green under the accommodation section on the left.

Why book through us: As a Kenyan owned and operated company we feel we are in the best position to provide accurate and up to date information on the Maasai Mara and Kenya as a whole.  We personally know many of the companies and establishments hosted on the site. We make a point of visiting all companies and establishments that we host on the site and verifying all information they submit to us to ensure that it is genuine and up to date.

Special Thanks:
We would like to send special thanks to Phil West of Phil West Safaris Ltd. who is one of Kenya’s top professional safari guides for doing the write up for all the animals in the flora and fauna section. Basically, Phil is a walking encyclopdia and an unbeatable guide who loves walking and paying attention to the smallest details in the bush. Thanks.

The write up on the Maasai Tribe is thanks to Mike Rainy, an American who has lived and worked with the Maasai for over 30 years, becoming fluent in Maa the Maasai language. He has also done a lot of research the Maasai people, and has kindly shared this with us.

Website optimisation is well in thanks to Nish Lakani of Suntrek Safaris Ltd. Who has given us a great deal of help and support. Thanks Nish.

Our maps section has been put together by Ramani Geosystems Ltd.

Thanks to Torben Rune and Johann du Toit for providing the photos used.
