Johann du Toit is a 4th generation Kenyan whose fore fathers came up from Southern Africa by ox cart. Johann was brought up on a wheat farm in western Kenya and as a young man growing up he loved catching snakes, scorpions, spiders, the more dangreous the better, basically any living animal he could find much to the destress of his mother. He then studied them and released them. From there his knowledge of wildlife has grown and travels the African wilderness whenever he could. He then went to Switzerland to study Hotel Managment. After 3 years there he came back to manage camps in the heart of the African bush where he feels most comfortable.

Johann is a professional safari guide and managed to get www.MaasaiMara.com and provide accurate information on the Maasai Mara - Africa`s Greatest Wildlife Reserve. With no knowledge of the internet industry, web design or anything in web department, he a Adam Withey designed and created this web site. Now, it is the top website specialising on the Maasai Mara and he is also working on Amboseli.com (another top Kenyan destination) and EastAfrica.com. Johann hopes that through his and Adam`s work that you have managed to get the information you needed. Enjoy.

Adam Withey, will load his info here shortly.

Special Thanks:
We would like to send special thanks to Phil West of Phil West Safaris Ltd. who is one of Kenya’s top professional safari guides for doing the write up for all the animals in the flora and fauna section. Basically, Phil is a walking encyclopdia and an unbeatable guide who loves walking and paying attention to the smallest details in the bush. Thanks.

The write up on the Maasai Tribe is thanks to Mike Rainy, an American who has lived and worked with the Maasai for over 30 years, becoming fluent in Maa the Maasai language. He has also done a lot of research the Maasai people, and has kindly shared this with us.

Website optimisation is well in thanks to Nish Lakani of Suntrek Safaris Ltd. Who has given us a great deal of help and support. Thanks Nish.

Our maps section has been put together by Ramani Geosystems Ltd.

Thanks to Torben Rune and Johann du Toit for providing the photos used.
